WORKSHOP 5: MINDFUL LIVING FOR HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

@ 14.00
Post-conference half-day workshop

Saturday 3 March 2012
2pm - 5pm incl. half hour coffee break
SMC Function Cenre, 66 Goulburn St, Sydney

with Professor Ellen Langer, pioneering researcher into successful ageing; Psychology Department, Harvard University, USA; best-selling author: Mindfulness, The Power of Mindful Learning, On Becoming An Artist, and Counterclockwise.

A unique opportunity to spend in-depth time with pioneering psychologist and researcher into the illusion of control, aging, decision-making, and mindfulness theory, Ellen Langer.

We will delve deeper into the topic of mindfulness from a Western perspective - mindfulness without meditation. It will become clear that living in a mindful way is relatively easy and enormously rewarding. The essence of being mindful is to notice new things. Noticing leads to engagement and engagement leads to fulfillment.

We will explore the consequences of increasing mindfulness for our interpersonal relationships and our satisfaction at work. Further, we will discuss ways of changing our methods of educating people so that future generations will understand the power of uncertainty and thus be able to live more productive and engaging lives.
